Incase of Seizures

In the event of a seizure…
DO
- Time the seizure
- Stay with the person during seizure
- Move him or her to a safe lying position (e.g. away from the edge of bed)
- Turn head and body to one side if possible
- Move things away that could cause injury
- Loosen tight clothes or restraints, if possible
- Call 911 if not familiar with the person’s medical history
- Call 911 if the seizure lasts longer then 5 minutes
- Call 911 if the person has another seizure
DON'T
- Force the person’s mouth open
- Put anything in the mouth
- Try to restrain or stop movements
