Teges i-Rounds aids brain research at McKnight Brain Institute
Last Updated:
Technology from Teges Corporation, which produces web-based information systems, has enabled researchers at the McKnight Center for Traumatic Brain Injury Studies to track patient outcomes in real time by connecting them at the bedside, laboratory and ICU.
The i-Rounds capture, organize, and analyze patient information at any time, regardless of their geographic location, through a web-based patient information portal. Researchers can collect and enter data securely, access and analyze only the data needed, without being influenced by other details in the patient's research record.
"Data overload is a problem, especially in critical care," explains Dr Jose Pineda, associate director of the Center. "The amount of information is staggering. With i-Rounds, our team can help doctors make more effective diagnoses and determine the best therapeutic treatments."
Dr Ronald L. Hayes, director of the Center, has high hopes for the technology: "Our research can proceed more rapidly and accurately, thanks to i-Rounds. We can dramatically improve the clinical outcome measurements for brain injury victims and then translate our findings into clinical and commercial applications."
