Services for Veterans With Traumatic Brain Injury
The Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center is a unique collaboration of the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health care system and a civilian partner whose mission is to serve active duty military, their dependents and veterans with traumatic brain injury (TBI). Their services include state-of-the-art medical care, innovative clinical research initiatives, and educational programs. Patients may be referred to DVIBC by primary care and other physicians/health care providers, family members, or by self-referral. - Medical Care Providers
- Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVIBC) provides TBI specific training for medical providers, family-oriented, informational resources, and access to important new research findings. Click here to down load the DVIBC informational brochure.
- Veterans Health Initiatives (VHI) Online Courses
- An independent study program on a range of TBI specific topics has been developed by the Veterans Health Administration in collaboration with DVIBC. This program will soon be available on-line at http://www.va.gov/vhi/ This program is one in a series of Veterans Health Initiatives (VHI) published by the VA's Employee Education System and made available to VA, DoD and other interested medical providers. The goal of this program is to prepare providers to better serve veteran patients. VHI courses are fully accredited for continuing education credits by The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation as well a number of other associated health professions. Courses on additional health related topics relevant to veterans may also be found at http://www.va.gov/vhi/.
