Don't Forget to Care for Yourself

We've all been told—on an airplane, when an oxygen mask descends in front of us, the cardinal rule is first to put on our own oxygen masks before we attempt to assist others.

Caring for ourselves is one of the most important—and one of the most neglected—things people do in times of crisis. Only when our needs are met, though, are we able to effectively take care of those around us.

Crisis Center

Many of us in the BIRF community...

...have received that call—the one telling us that a loved one is in critical condition.

Some of us are years down the road. We've experienced diverse stages of brain injury—from crisis to recovery. Some of us have seen our loved ones re-enter community, other of us have had to say good-bye. While we're not here to tell you everything will work out the way you want the future to unfold, we are here to support you this time of confusion and uncertainty.
